CHARACTER NAME: Roll Light
FANDOM: Mega Man / Rockman (Classic)
AGE: 14
GRADE: Freshman
HISTORY:
Roll is the daughter of the famous scientist and roboticist, Doctor Thomas Light. Along with her older brother, Rock, they happily spent their days as a family while their father tinkered away with his latest projects. Little is know about their mother, having passed away from illness when the children were very young. Their father always speaks fondly of her as a kind and caring woman. His knowledge of roboticism would rub off on his children sometimes, but otherwise, they led pretty ordinary lives. The only difference is that one of their favorite playmates was one of Dr. Light's first robotic animal prototypes, a dog named Rush. There is also another member of the family; Rock's twin brother, Blues. The more enigmatic part of their family, he left their home early on to pursue training for a career in music.
As for Roll, there isn't much to tell. She and her older brother went to kindergarten and grade school together, and are very close. By middle school, she started to grow more independent and got swept up in the ordinary interests of a teenage girl: music, fashion and boys. Though growing up in a male-dominated family left her with a lot to learn on her own and with other girlfriends. Even now, she marches to the beat of her own drum, and has become good friends with the daughter of Dr. Light's Russian colleague, Kalinka. She volunteered herself into a foreign exchange program stationed in Tokyo, and is excited by the chance of transferring and meeting new friends in her new high school in America.
Personality:
Roll is a girl of many talents, and it reflects off her personality and interests. She doesn't mind doing the cooking or house-cleaning, since she feels that she can get the job done better than her brother or father. Sometimes she even admits that it's fun, but only if there isn't a lot of dust or nuts and bolts being picked off the floor by the vacuum cleaner. She also likes flowers, singing (mostly in karaoke), dancing and playing the occasional video game with her brother Rock. She claims that she can beat the pants off of him, but no one can say for sure whether it's really true or not. An animal lover, she likes dogs and cats the best, but also birds such as the one Kalinka keeps for a pet, Beat.
Among her dislikes are people who take advantage of the weak, are bullying or just plain mean. Sometimes it even leaves her itching for a fight, but rarely will she ever act on that interest. It's not good nor lady-like. Naturally curious, Roll isn't shy about exploring some things on her own, or sometimes with the help of her friends or Rock. Generally optimistic, she gets along well with others and usually has an easy time of making new friends. She dabbles with the idea of romance in her head, but is realistically too shy around the boys that she likes to act on it.
Strengths:
Few people can get the job of house-cleaning done as quickly and efficiently as Roll can. It's something she prides herself over, in fact. Having grown up and gotten along with boys, she has an easy time of befriending them as much as she does girls. At least when it comes to some common bases. When she sets her mind to something, Roll can be very determined to give it her all and do her best to make it work out like it should. She is not afraid to stand up for herself and other people when the time is right.
Weaknesses:
Without her family around, Roll can get a little lonely and nostalgic. It shows how much she cares about them, and she misses her older brother Blues very much. They keep in touch by correspondence. While it's sometimes hard to get Roll shook up over things, once it's managed, the walls start tumbling down. She can be prone to crying at her very worst. On that note, she can also be competitive and a sore loser. But these are things that can easily be gotten over with enough concentration. Physically, she's not very strong, but does excel in some running and gymnastics.
FIRST PERSON: Hey, is anyone else taking Home Ec. this semester? I could use a hand with the assignment that I heard we're supposed to do in class today. Do a girl a favor, okay? Please?
Ah, I got a phone call from my big brother and dad the other day too! It feels like it's been a long time since I've heard from them, even though it's only been a few weeks. Dad e-mailed me a picture of Rock trying on his new suit for the dance coming up at his school. Hee hee. You should see the look on his face, he looks so awkward.
I can forward it to anyone who wants to see it. (I don't think he'll mind -too much- that I'm showing him off.)
THIRD PERSON:
"Hmm hm hm... ♪" Roll hummed along to the melody of the song in her head as she brushed through her hair, sitting in front of a vanity. Just a few more minutes to go. Putting the brush down on the surface, she reached out to grab her favorite green ribbon that was laid down next to it. It felt soft on her fingers, and that's why she never had a problem with tying it in her hair herself. With a firm pull on each strand, it was done. She beamed, gripping her hands tightly with determination. "Okay!" The stool she was sitting in suddenly scooted back, and she stood up, lightly patting down her skirt. No wrinkles now. Today was important.
She resumed where she left off with her humming, and turned around to go grab her book bag off the bed. Already made, tucked and ready for tonight. She grinned at the memory of how she'd always scold Rock for never making his bed when he was asked. It was one of his weird few faults. Slinging one of the straps over her shoulder, she grabbed her keys off the nightstand and scampered over to the door. Closing it tight and then... a click and a jingle from her keyring--Done!
"Clairbourn High, here I come!" She cheered to herself, thrusting an arm up into the air as she walked down the hallway of her dormitory.
Her stomach had butterflies, but she could swear that they were good ones. She made sure that all the supplies she needed were bought for this semester, and that all the paperwork for her transfer was in order. It was really going to be something else... High school was an exciting premise for her, and she was feeling eager to make new friends. Not to mention that everyone was connected by the network. Naturally her father's daughter, she thought that was very cool! There was just so much to look forward to, and the reality of it didn't really hit her until she was already outside the building.
